So since I now only have a presentation to do for Uni, and apply for a placement, and write a dissertation proposal, I seem to have a bit of free time, hopefully it will continue to be used productively. Here are a few Photoshop tutorials that I have done, The first was interesting to see how the effect was made, but I really like the style of the second piece. This was actually much easier to use, but it got me to know the markee tool just a bit better than I did. All in all both very useful, and I do like the second one a lot so I hope to do something else in that style again soon.
Paperworks, by Erika Iris Simmons. She meticulously cuts out the musical note shapes and pastes them back together in stunning portraits, patterns, and shapes, in her attempt to, “visualize the transcendence felt in beautiful music.” I absolutely love how the sheet music comes alive as the figures move, sway, and rise off of the pages
My fav is Aladdin :D
This is a 360 view of my body with all of the organs in. I have placed it on a stand for this render, however when printed out it won’t be on a stand, as when going to attach it to make it all one piece the turbo smooth rounded it, therefore it wouldn’t make a very good stand as the bottom wouldn’t be flat.
Translation:
All my organs are in the body, now just to save as an .stl file and send it to get printed out. Had to add small bars in the back of the organs connecting them to the body so that when printed out the organs don’t break or fall down. I made the bars quite thick to ensure they would be strong.

Well finally textured these are all of the pieces that are going to get put together into the body, to then get sent off to get printed off in 3D. I am very happy with the modelling of them, they took a lot of time, and were very difficult. But well worth it. The textures on each piece are very simple, and I have upped the specular level on them slightly to give a bit of a shine.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park:
Anthony Caro
These pictures are of sculptures from The House Series. These really caught my eye and I found them very enticing to look at. The use of sharp edges on the sculptures to contrast with the flowing smooth shape creates a depth to them and makes them stand out and look different to other sculptures. In some of the sculptures it is much more obvious that it is based on buildings than others. E.G. the sculpture with the stairs, this is the piece that first drew my attention as well. I really liked these pieces and found that the material used made them much more appealing to look at. These pieces were in his response to the architexture of the Visitor Centre and landscape beyond connecting the exterior and interior spaces of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park:
Today I went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and saw the art and sculpture exhibition by Miro. I really liked his work and finding out about his process of creating it. Originally when I had seen his work, I thought it was random and spontaneous, however from the exhibition I found out that his work has a great deal of thought behind it and a lot of process, he has sketch books with all of his sketches and labelling on about his sculptures. Something else that I never knew about his work is the way in which he produced some of it, it was by trying to create texture into the paint he used different mediums, some of these included using rocks and the drawing a mirrored image on to the stone usually with a grease crayon, he then coated the stone in gum arabic so that the ink would cling to the grease lines, the ink then transferred to the paper when it was placed on the stone. Also when looking at his work first hand I felt that he was influenced by the work of Picasso, however later through the exhibition I found that they were friends and I felt that this came through in his work. I really liked his paintings; my favourite piece from the exhibition was a piece called The Ogre I liked the use of colour in this. I loved some of his sculptures, I preferred the all black pieces as they looked much smoother and a lot more tactile. I also really liked the way that the sculptures had different cut marks into them. Some were very clean and smooth and others had the metal melted. All of the sculptures were made out of bronze. Unfortunately I was unable to take a picture of my favourite painting, and also my favourite sculpture as photography in that section of the exhibition was not allowed.
For Visual Studies I chose the subject of life. For Life I decided to draw tattoos. These are the tattoos that I have drawn so far, for these drawings I have tired to draw them in different mediums: Pen, colouring pencils and pencils. From these drawings I plan to create my own tattoo design, I have yet to decide which of the three mediums I will use to create the final piece.
This is the UWV unwrap of the character, and the fully textured character. I am very happy with the way that the character turned out and I feel that he looks like a baby monkey.
For my animation and kinetics I decided to create another character I used some old character designs that I created on a monkey I modelled last year, however this time, I changed it and tweaked it to create a new character. This is the process that I took in modelling the monkey. I am very happy with the appearance of him. The texture file and the textured renders of the monkey will follow.
This is an old character that I made last year, however with the animation module we are working on rigging and making a character walk using the pre-set cat rig animations, I wanted to see just how well my monkey character would walk and how easy he was to rig. Rigging him was in fact very easy, and also making him walk was very easy too. Only a few envelopes needed tweaking, and considering he didn’t take long to animate, I am in fact very happy with the outcome of it!
For my audience and context I am comparing two films, and this blog that I just found on How to Train Your dragon is really useful. They don’t post very often but if you like How to Train Your Dragon, check it out, its got new clips for the next movie and some lovely art work as a background, some good interviews too.
This is a 360degree rotation of my character, this is just so that it can be seen from all sides….. Including his back tattoo.
